J. O' Farrell Clarke II
Owner / Master Craftsman
Farrell has been in the shoe repair business for 34 years.
He started out as an operator/manager trainee with Mister Minit America in 1983.
In 1984 Farrell received his MMA certification and was promoted to manager at the White Marsh Mall location. Within six months he was promoted to Area Supervisor and was responsible for two new additional Mister MInit shops located in Towson and Glen Burnie. In 1985 two more shops were added to Farrell's area that were located in Boston, MA. As Mister Minit expanded so did Farrell's territory. He was promoted in 1986 to District Manager with a total of seven shops from New Jersey down to Virginia. Even though the Mister Minit shoe repair shops were very sucessful and popular, Minit International (their parent company) decided to close down all operations in the USA in the summer of 1989. Fortunately a similar shoe repair company (Hakky, Inc.) purchased most of the existing MMA shops and provided Farrell with a managerial position. After two years with Hakky, Inc., Farrell decided to take the plunge and go out on his own. In March of 1991 he purchased a neighborhood shoe repair shop (established in 1930) in the Dundalk community of Southeastern Baltimore County.
Farrell has been a member of the Shoe Service Institute of America since 1985 as well as a charter member of Shoe Repair International.
Farrell opened his second shop In 2010.
That shop is located in downtown Bel Air, MD.
Farrell's youngest son, Bryan, runs the Bel Air shop.
Farrell does most of the repairs for both shops.
He is a Shoe Doctor with two offices.
this year marks the 26th Anniversary of Clarke's Express Shoe Repair !
